2012 Jaguar XF Team Sky Sportbrake 3.0 Diesel VX12 CWO

Handed over on 29th June 2012, this XF Sportbrake had been developed and adapted in close consultation between Jaguar and Team Sky with customised roof racks, race radios, and TVs to follow the action at the front of the peloton.  The result was an excitingly high performance, luxury vehicle that also met the versatile demands of supporting the team on the road during its racing calendar.

This car was gifted to the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust for preservation in 2013.

The Pinarello cycle fitted to the roof rack is representative of the 2012 Team Sky tour bikes and has kindly been loaned for this display.

The 2012 season for Team Sky began in January at the Tour Down Under and ended in October at the Tour of Beijing.  As a UCI ProTeam, they were automatically invited and obliged to send a squad to every event in the UCI World Tour.  The team took a total of 47 victories in the season with the most notable being Bradley Wiggins’ overall victory in the Tour de France – the first ever win by an Englishman.  Wiggins, Mark Cavendish and Chris Froome also took stage victories in the event, with Froome finishing second to Wiggins in the overall standings.

An Official Supplier since Team Sky’s creation in 2010, Jaguar has played a rôle in Team Sky’s hugely successful racing programme for the last five years which has included the first two Tour de France victories by a British cycling team.

2012 marked a new step for the partnership, with the supply of a fleet of all-new high performance Jaguar XF Sportbrakes, first seen on the road during Team Sky’s historic, victorious campaign to win the Tour de France that year.

Whilst the XF Sportbrake shares its excellent safety features and interior refinement with the saloon, the roof gives rear passengers more headroom.  The rear seats are a 60:40 split and it has 550 litres of space with the seats occupied and 1,675 litres with the rear seats folded flat.
